Sport industry connections is the key feature in ambitious Molde startup

Wednesday, HiMolde sport anagement students attended networking workshop organized by local startup SportIn Global founded by Ole Martin Vebenstad.

Ole MartinVebenstad is a former student of HiMolde and ambitious entrepreneur, who runs a startup called SportIn Global (currently in the Protomore Kunnskapspark’s incubator program). On Wednesday 7th of February, sport management student had an opportunity to attend their first event, a workshop focused on building network.

“SportIn Global is a social platform that we are developing for the sport industry. It is a platform where sports students can connect with sports professionals, build up connections and gain information in the industry, helping them to take the next step after their studies,” says Ole Martin Vebenstad.

“The company is a combination of LinkedIn, Tinder and Netflix. LinkedIn for the business aspect, Tinder for the match making in terms of matching students with sports organization, and Netflix for the recommendations. We will recommend users the right job offer for them and the other way round, we will recommend to the organizations the right applicants for them,” explains Vebenstad.

Part of SportIn Global’s job is organizing networking workshops. Wednesday, such an event took a place for a first time at Aker Stadium in Molde. Both bachelor and master’s degree students on sport management programs had an opportunity to learn how to gain the right connections and build up their own business contacts network.

Vebenstad was sharing his own experiences from building up a startup. Furthermore, they had a chance to talk to marketing director Oddvar Talset and get an insight on marketing work Molde Football Club. Later, students were divided into groups and got a several tasks to practice networking in between each other.

“Our aim is to organize more of those events, where students can get real contacts to professionals within the industry and for example get an internship or job opportunity,” says Vebenstad.
