Who is the strongest student at HiMolde?

Moldestudentenes Idrettslag (MSI) challenges all the students of HiMolde to beat them in a lifting competition. Who is going to be on the Wall of Fame at the end of the semester?

MSI has announced a competition in which they challenge all the students of HiMolde to lift more weights in three different exercises than the board of the student organization. On Thursday 19th of April, they set up their maximum in the university’s gym and now they are leaving the space for the other students to show what they are capable of.

The challenge consists of ‘The big three’ – squat, bench press and deadlift. There are two categories, men and women. The students, who will lift the heaviest weight in a strength-to-weight ratio, will receive immutable recognition and their names will hang on the Wall of Fame in the gym.

The completion will last from now till the end of semester, and the current standing of the Top 5 will be presented in the gym. The competition will follow the rules of International Powerlifting Federation, and therefor copmpeting students will be divided into weight classes in order to distinguish between relative and absolute strength.

“We decided to establish the Wall of Fame, and in order to show the strongest ones, we challenged all the students to beat us in these three basic excercises,” says Kristoffer Haaheim Thorvaldsen, the MSI member who is responsible for the gym.

“We set up the weights and now it’s up to other students to beat us,” challenges Thorvaldsen.

Any student can take part in the competition. Contact Espen Gustavsen or Kristoffer H. Thorvaldsen or MSI’s Facebook page in order to set an appointment to perform. The full text of the rules and description of each of the exercises will be published by MSI in the gym.
