Studiekvalitet: Studentane må bli høyrt i arbeidet med studiekvalitet
This is what candidate Roppen will do for the students
In my efforts to become the new rektor at Molde University College, I have had the pleasure of meeting students in Molde and Kristiansund and have listened to their opinions on how Molde University College should develop further.
An important topic brought forward by students in both Molde and Kristiansund is communication. Or more precisely: Lack of communication. I completely agree with the many students who say that Molde University College can do better in this area, and many employees have the same opinion. This will be my main priority if I am elected rektor, because good communication will reduce uncertainty and make us all more effective.
I have three mottos, which I want to work by if I’m elected as rektor. These are to be present, attentive and clear. Being present also means actively informing about news at Molde University College, both in Molde and in Kristiansund. I have a definite impression that there is too little flow of information between the two cities, making it two camps instead of one University college. And it is the responsibility of leaders to do something about it.
Reaching the students is both the most difficult and the most important. As I have said to the Studenttinget at Molde University College in the panel debate between the rector candidates, a specific project is probably needed to find out how to reach the students in better ways, and also to restart the student environment after the pandemic.
In a separate article in Panorama I have told about other issues I think are important for students, and thereby for the study environment and the whole of Molde University College.
Here is a key summary of the points:
Campus development: Students need more group rooms and other workplaces
Syllabus lists must be completed well in advance of the start of studies
Sports hall: Molde University College must start planning for a sports hall
Student democracy must be strengthened and the college should consider paying student union representatives
The student house must be completed
Study quality: Students must be strongly involved in the continuing work on study quality
A bicycle garage («Bicycle hotel») is lacking and should provide safe parking and also charging of electric bicycles
