Last Friday, student athletes and organizers said goodbye to the first Erasmus Games in Molde, and the champions received their certificates.

Every good thing must end at one point, and the Erasmus Games is no exception.  Participants and organizers, or just interested students, came together to officially finish the Erasmus Games.

The ceremony started with a casual barbeque party with free hot dogs for everyone. After the food lured enough people around, the allocation of the awards could start at the canteen. Every team or athlete who reached the podium (the first three places), got their certificate and prize, and the right to hold a short, but spirited, speech in front of the cheering audience.

We could actually hear some interesting and funny background stories, and students humorously following the patterns of the usual award ceremony speeches.

After the rewarding of the athletes, the acknowledgement and credit was given for the organizers and the volunteers, who made the games possible. Even though the weather was not always in favour of the games (the volleyball tournament was cancelled for that reason), and there were some issues and quarrels between the teams and the referees (this is quite normal for a sport competition), all in all, as a trial run, it can be said that the games was a success. With the gained experiences, it most certainly can grow into an event with greater volume, taking it to the national or even international level. That is the ambitious plan, nonetheless.

The night ended with a party, music provided by DJ Soonix. Even more people joined to give farewell to the games, to the Erasmus exchange students and to the study year as well.
